Medium description: | Gerry Abbott & Mike Beaumont's "Development of ELT: the Dunford Seminars 1978-1993". A collection of extracts from The British Council's Dunford Seminars from the first one in 1978 to the 16th in 1993 selected and edited by Gerry Abbott and Mike Beaumont with a foreword by Christopher Brumfit. The editors believe the seminars to have fallen into 3 distinct phases and accordingly present the extracts in 3 sections: - Developments in ELT 1978-1984 this 1st phase, the editors suggest, followed a cycle "from syllabus/course design, to methodology, to assessment, to teacher training, and back to syllabus design" (p.12). - ELT in Development 1985-1992 this phase looked at the wider context in which ELT operated around the world - Looking into the Distance (1993) the final phase consisted of just the 16th seminar and the theme of distance education. | |
