Medium description: | Hywel Coleman's "Teaching and Learning in Pakistan: The Role of Language in Education" published. The report was originally intended as an internal British Council document to recommend how the Council might best support the the use of English in education in Pakistan. However, the report suggested the following of a multilingual educational programme in which the use of English was "more modest but at the same time [had a] more equitable role than it does at present" (Coleman & Capstick, 2012). It also stated that it was necessary to look at not just English but the status of all Pakistan's languages and the report was published for an external audience and reactions to the reports findings were sought with the aim "of generating recommendations for the Government of Pakistan" (Coleman & Capstick, 2012). | |
