Short description: | Thorndike's handwriting test
Medium description: | Thorndike's standardized handwriting test developed. Thorndike collected samples of students' handwriting and got nearly 200 teachers to assess the quality of each script. From this he developed a scale with exemplar scripts for teachers to use in assessing their students' work. O'Sullivan (2012) states that this was an early example of language testing in the US differing in approach from that in Europe. The approach in Europe relied on the judgments of the test developers whilst that in the US relied on experimental data.
