Short description: | 2nd volume of Bailey's dictionary
Medium description: | 2nd volume of Nathan Bailey's "Universal Etymological English Dictionary" published. A work of uncertain purpose; repeating much material in the original and changing greatly throughout its subsequent editions. Possibly a device by bookseller Thomas Cox to drum up trade for both the original and the forthcoming "Dictionarium Britannicum" (Starnes & Noyes, 1991). Composed of 2 sections: "An Additional Collection" and "An Orthographical Dictionary". The latter section included a stress mark to guide pronunciation.
